Intimate Weddings, thoughtful design and kindness

Coombe Trenchard is one of those places that stays with you long after you have departed. It’s a well-kept secret that, if you search, you’ll find tucked away in a secluded part of West Devon on the edge of the raw beauty and romance of Dartmoor. The show-stopping main house is an Edwardian “Arts & Crafts” country house set in over a hundred acres of well-tended garden, parkland and woodlands. The house was designed with entertaining in mind and so lends itself perfectly to intimate weddings and elopements. In a world where quantity often continues to outweigh quality, it’s refreshing to find the “Arts and Crafts” principles of handcrafting, thoughtful design and a personal approach running so much deeper than the beauty of this exquisite country house.

Care and personal attention

Every aspect of this privately-owned intimate wedding venue offers choice, quality and individuality. First, there is a strict limited on the number of wedding held here annually, meaning that you can be assured that your wedding will be a truly unique and personal experience reflecting your own wedding day vision. Sarah, the owner, answers enquiries personally; she’ll be delighted to show you round; and, when you book, it will be Sarah, or one of her trusted team, who will expertly guide you through your pre-wedding planning, as well as be with you on your wedding day to ensure every detail is just as you wish. A particularly lovely detail is that Sarah will grow seasonal flowers for your wedding day in the cutting garden on the estate. Talking to Sarah, it struck me that the care taken in understanding your floral requirements, sharing her knowledge and experience to help you, and, then the ongoing individual attention put into growing your wedding day flowers is a metaphor for how things work at Coombe Trenchard. Sarah and her husband Phillip does not just open their home to you, they open their hearts too.

Don’t take our word for it…

Here’s what some couples who have been lucky enough to marry at Coombe Trenchard have said.

From the bottom of our hearts the biggest, warmest thanks for opening your home to us and allowing us to marry in such a stunning setting. You both went above and beyond and made our day everything we dreamed of and more. We will never forget your kindness and will treasure your home in our hearts forever. We hope to be back and visit you both in the not-too-distant future.

All our love,

Francesca and Benio

We got married at Coombe Trenchard in October 2019 and it was everything we had ever dreamed of. The house and grounds were stunning and exactly what we wanted. Sarah was amazing from start to finish, she had loads of great advice and couldn’t have been more helpful. She also has a great list of suppliers to choose from. We will definitely make sure we go back and visit on one of the open days.

Amy & Matt

Coombe Trenchard is one of those places that stays with you; it has its own personality and magic. From the moment we came to visit there was never any doubt where we would be holding our wedding, nothing could compare! From the start Sarah was utterly wonderful, full of knowledge and so caring and friendly. We felt in very safe hands as we navigated the brand-new waters of wedding planning and enjoyed our meetings hugely! Our guests were blown away when they arrived, Coombe Trenchard is the best kept secret, a hidden gem in an often over done wedding circuit. We wouldn’t change anything and feel incredibly lucky to have had our special day somewhere as unique and beautiful as Coombe Trenchard – go and see this exclusive and heavenly venue ASAP.

Emily and Bob

We chose Coombe Trenchard for our wedding venue and we cannot express how wonderful our wedding day was. Sarah was a fantastic person to help plan the day and she was like our own personal wedding planner! She went above and beyond to ensure our wedding day was unique and special to us. Coombe Trenchard is a fantastic venue, the gardens and grounds are breath-taking, the house itself is wonderful and decorated with Art Deco style features and the rooms are all full of character. In particular, the room used as the bridal suite was phenomenal! The house is perfect for a wedding as the day ran seamlessly from ceremony in the main hall. welcome drinks on the terrace, wedding breakfast in the marquee overlooking the grounds and then dancing in the recently restored Coach House. Walking the minstrels’ gallery as my wedding march was a very special experience for me, however, all of our guests were in awe of the venue, the suppliers and the attention to detail Coombe Trenchard provided. Coombe Trenchard feels like a second home and we cannot thank Sarah enough. We would recommend Coombe Trenchard without question and only wish we could relive our own wedding day again.
