An intimate wedding Exmoor at Little Quarme

Imagine getting married in the peace and tranquillity of Exmoor National Park, an area of outstanding natural beauty, surrounded by picture-postcard, rolling English countryside just a breath away from Dunkery Beacon and Horner Wood Nature Reserve. Day-dream about exchanging your wedding vows in the hand-crafted wooden gazebo set atop the south-facing slope over-looking the jaw-dropping view of Quarme Valley. Feel enveloped in the love of your nearest and dearest sat with you in the natural amphitheatre, the south-facing lawn at Little Quarme. Add to this the incredible service offered by hosts Katherine and Nick and this is a place where wedding magic comes to life.

You could have an intimate wedding at Little Quarme in 18 acres of secluded, unencumbered loveliness that’s yours for exclusive or part-hire for weekend or mid-week weddings. On the estate you’ll find 6 cosy 4* cottages, accommodating up to 22 guests. This means you’ve the option for a 2 or 3-night wedding stay allowing you to extend your special time with loved ones, something we’ve all lacked in recent times. Your wedding hire includes exclusive-use of The Barn with yet another aspect on that view! Simply decorated and furnished it provides the perfect blank-canvas for you to bring to life your wedding styling ideas. You can have fun doing the styling yourselves or use one of the wonderful local florists or events stylists that owners Katherine and Nick can recommend. Wrapped around The Barn is a terrace which overlooks the valley that’s perfect for pre- and post-wedding drinks and canapés.

A truly versatile place making your wedding unique

From elopements ‘just for 2’, or ‘2 and a few’, through to intimate weddings for 10 to 30, and small weddings for 50+, this beautiful setting is versatile enough to provide the perfect location for your dream wedding day. There are few intimate wedding venues that offer such a range of flexibility in terms of the variety and number of available spaces.

If you choose a celebrant-led or religious-based ceremony this can take place anywhere on the estate. For your legal wedding ceremony there’s a choice of licensed spaces. You can either use the outdoor gazebo taking in that awesome view or The Barn. The gazebo has been cleverly weather proofed with invisible windows meaning it can be used rain or shine. Should the weather be unkind, a marquee will be provided to keep your guests comfortable and dry throughout your wedding ceremony. The gazebo and paved aisle that you’ll use as you make your approach to your wedding ceremony can be styled with flowers, bunting, fairy lights, candles or whatever your imaginations’ and hearts’ desire. Or, if you prefer, you can choose to dress-up The Barn in your own unique style, creating an irresistible indoor wedding ceremony space.

The Barn also provides an option for an indoor reception meal and celebration; or as a chill-out zone or even a crèche area for the children in your party. You might wish to set it up as a games room with the pool table, table-tennis and maybe even a photo-booth for everyone to enjoy.

The magnificent choice of outdoor spaces includes a south-facing lawn overlooking the Quarme Valley that you could use for relaxing, perhaps a BBQ or hog roast, even an evening fire pit as well as garden games to keep your guests entertained.

For larger wedding parties you might like to pitch a stretch-tent or marquee on the lawn.  The Paddock and surrounding fields provide you with additional space for entertainment (anyone for archery?), convenient car parking and possibly camping for up to 7 tents on the night of your wedding giving a festival-vibe to your wedding.

Best of all the only neighbours have four legs so celebrating until late is perfectly acceptable!

Additional thoughts to help you create life-time memories

All of us have come to appreciate time together all the more in the recent past. Making the most of these opportunities is all important and your hosts, Katherine and Nick, can recommend some fabulous local activities that can be integral to your day or part of your extended stay.

Perhaps you’ll enjoy a walk up Dunkery Beacon to drink in the fabulous views (all the way to Wales and Dartmoor on really clear days) or perhaps the short half-mile stroll across the fields to “The Rest and be Thankful” for a relaxed meal and a pint is more your thing? On top of this, your hosts can arrange pampering services in your cottage, archery, guided costal walks and e-bike rides or a Land Rover Safari in the stunning Exmoor National Park.  Many couples just choose a lazy brunch to relive the celebrations of the day before. Exmoor offers plentiful access to all sorts of amazing activities and experiences and your hosts will be delighted to help you find your perfect match to top-off your unique wedding day experience should you wish.
