Little Weddings in Nature
Little Seed Field is an incredibly special place: it’s a real find for couples looking for a small wedding experience in a beautiful, wild setting with a mindful approach to the environmental impact of their celebration. What’s more, a wedding day in nature doesn’t mean you cannot bring your creativity and fill you wedding stay with everything the two of you enjoy and cherish. In fact, the opposite applies. We love the sense of freedom that comes with this choice!
You’ll find Little Seed Field set in the heart of Nidderdale, in the Yorkshire Dales, surrounded by the heather-rich moorlands that provide a home to a diverse range of wildlife. The area is a walker and cyclists paradise and teeming with history. This unspoilt corner of the UK is home to Hackfall Ancient Woods and Trail, that can be found a short distance from Little Seed Field; there’s a Druid temple and the market towns of Masham and Pateley Bridge are close-by. Yet, this rural idyl is just an hour from the medieval city of York.
The glamping site itself had been developed to retain a sense of wildness and space, with a purposeful aim of preserving the flora and fauna for whom this is home. There are seven cabins on the site, (four with ensuite facilities) nestled amongst the meadows, trees and rushes. Here you can soak up the views over the valley, to the soundtrack of birdsong and grazing cattle. Each cabin is private and peaceful, creating the space to enjoy some quality “you and me time” in this secluded setting, rounding your days off by taking in the starlit heavens above or on colder evenings, snuggling by the wood burner in your cabin.
If you are a couple who love the great outdoors and would love to incorporate this passion into your own unique small wedding experience, then Little Seed Field may well be what you are looking for!
About Little Seed Field
Owners Sean and Joanne are the fourth-generation owners the farm. As such, they are forging an innovative path to sustain, manage and evolve the business. Part of this plan is to share the natural beauty and wilderness of Yorkshire Dales Glamping at Little Seed Field.
Sean’s great-grandfather came to the farm in the late 1930’s as a tenant and milk production has never stopped since! Sean has recently taken over the day to day running of the dairy farm, overseeing twice daily milking and calving of some 200 cows in September and December each year. In addition, the herd is predominantly fed on grass grown on the farm and stored as silage. The grass is harvested up to three times a year between May and September.
Little Seed Glamping site is not a manicured holiday park serving large numbers. The 7 log cabins have been built to blend in with the natural surroundings. Not all cabins have ensuite bathroom facilities, but there is a shared, separate amenity building a short walk from the cabins. Mobile signal can also be hard to come by – but this can be a real bonus as you experience the joy of a digital detox during your stay. Cars can be parked less than 100 meters from the cabin site and wheelbarrows are provided to transport your luggage along the footpaths to your cabin.
Your wedding experience at Little Seed Field
Little Seed Field is a place where you can let your imaginations run wild. Whether you are looking for an elopement wedding just for the two of you of a slightly larger gathers to include your closest friends and family, a unique and beautifully natural wedding day experience awaits.
The first, and possibly the best part of your day you will want to consider is your wedding ceremony: the point where the two of you exchange personal vows that will sit at the heart of your relationship forever. Little Seed Field does not have a wedding licence at present, but you can still marry here by decoupling legal paper work and your actual wedding ceremony. To do this you would attend the registry office just ahead of your wedding day, or maybe even on the same day and have a short statutory meeting with the registrar to complete the legal paper work. This means that your wedding ceremony is not governed by archaic rules that limit what can be said, when and where your ceremony can be held and what constituent parts of your ceremony can be. This really is the very best route for couples who want to experience a heartfelt, authentic wedding in nature.
For 2022, there will be the option to choose a legal wedding ceremony as an alternative to this.
With over 200 acres of land to choose from, Joanne will help you pick the ideal location and setting for your wedding ceremony. There are endless Ceremony locations and photo opportunities with sunset horizons, wild natural settings including wild meadows, small woodland clearings and a beautiful pond setting. Or, if you prefer an indoor location there’s a yurt by the pond and the converted stone-built barn.
What’s more, up to 12 of your guests can stay on site in the cabins and others are welcome to bring tents and pitch up for the night too, creating a mini-festival wedding vibe.
Don’t take out word for it, here’s what couples who have been married at Little Seed Field say about their experience.
Cannot recommend Little Seed Field highly enough! Joanne and Sean were so kind and helpful through the whole (should be) stressful process of organising and executing a wedding in a barn/field. They made everything super easy.Would recommend anyone organising an event to stay in glamping huts, our guests loved them. The scenery is just stunning and with a little imagination and creativity the farm can be turned into something truly magical. Simply amazing.
We booked Little Seed Fields for our wedding and it is a stunningly gorgeous venue - the views, the rustic dry stone walls and trees make it a really unique and amazing spot. We fell in love with the place immediately and words cannot describe how perfect it was for our wedding. Joanne runs the venue and is incredibly calm, supportive and resourceful. Her help was absolutely invaluable as she seemed to magic away our worries and last minute problems! Our families and guests loved glamping and camping , and there's no doubt we will be returning to the beautiful cosy glamping cabins for many anniversaries to come!!
"Joanne provided wonderful hands on help during the days leading up to the wedding - discussed and helped to organise everything. Joanne’s advice and knowledge of the landscape is precious when planning a natural, outdoors experience.
Joanne was really supportive on the day of the wedding, making sure everything perfectly placed and we had all that we needed. We were then left to celebrate, drink & dance so all our guests felt extremely comfortable.
The best part about having our wedding at Little Seed Field is the relationship we have built with Joanne and the sentimental connection we have with the land.
We were able to achieve our absolute dream wedding day at Little Seed Field - wild, natural and relaxed"
