Frieda and the Moon, For a Sublime, Quiet Wedding
A quiet wedding at Frieda and the Moon
Off the beaten-track and tucked away in the rolling hills of south Cornwall we’ve found the perfect place for a quiet wedding for two, two and a few and is licensed for weddings for a maximum of 20. We love unique intimate wedding venues and Frieda and The Moon is just perfect for a petite wedding filled with your wildest quirky wedding ideas. This is a relaxed wedding venue that lends itself perfectly to bringing your own conventional or unconventional wedding ideas to life, both in terms of the setting, the facilities and the accommodating approach the owners take to each wedding.
Frieda and The Moon is the brainchild of owners Paul and Babs who have transformed a 13 acre smallholding to create a wonderfully romantic hideaway that has an off-the grid feel to it, yet with all the creature comforts you would want and more. The venue consists of two unique, hand built luxury cabins set amongst the trees in the wooded paddock, plus a separate purpose built oak-framed wedding studio for your ceremony and celebrations, with views over three circular terraced lawns and on to the live stock (including sheep and alpacas) and the beautiful rolling Cornish countryside. At night the lack of light pollution creates a whole new perspective with perfect conditions for stargazing in this peaceful oasis where the only noises you are likely to hear at night is the an owl or two and an occasional farm animal.
The accommodation at this venue is just for two, or four in the two individually created luxury cabins designed to keep you close to nature yet in total comfort. Each has its own cedar-wood hot-tub, fully equipped en-suite bathroom, mini-kitchen and a sumptuous king-sized bed. You’ll be cosy and warm whatever time of year you choose as The Observatory has a wood burner and The Tabernacle benefits from under-floor heating. The interior design combines decadent colours, stained glass windows with a subtle astronomy theme to create a truly unique feel for your wedding stay. Every detail has been thought through including a beautiful roof light over the bed in The Observatory so you can lie in bed gazing at the amazing night sky.
If you want a few more people to share in your special day we can recommend additional accommodation close-by for your guests. Or, for those who wish a few tents can be pitched alongside the luxury cabins as part of an exclusive hire of the whole venue.
What might my wedding stay look like?
Before your wedding Paul and Babs will have been in touch to understand exactly what you are wanting from your wedding day – however laid-back, different or quirky, these guys are more than happy to help you bring your small unique wedding ideas to life.
Arrive the night before your wedding to be greeted by your hosts. A homemade cream tea and bottle of Prosecco will be waiting for you on arrival and you cannot fail to feel yourselves relax into the peaceful surroundings. Enjoy a restful evening and maybe head out to one of the plentiful local eateries. Your hosts have a great blog with lots of ideas and recommendations for things to do close-by. You can read more here.
On your wedding morning, enjoy a relaxed breakfast, maybe order a champagne breakfast hamper from Paul and Babs to start your day off in suitably decadent style. Flowers can be delivered, a bridal hair and make up stylist can be booked and your photographer can arrive at a time of your choosing to capture your memories. While you are getting ready the owners will be arranging and styling The Studio just as you want for your wedding ceremony.
Once everyone is ready and the registrars have arrived you’ll take the short walk from your accommodation through the natural arch to The Studio where your relaxed wedding ceremony will be held. The venue can also accommodate ceremonies that start outside and flow indoors for the legal declarations and signing of the register, making the most of the gorgeous natural surroundings.
After your ceremony, enjoy some photography in and around the beautiful grounds – perhaps a few shots with the alpacas! Whilst you are enjoying some informal and relaxed photography and a toast drink, The Studio will be arranged for your wedding meal. The owners provide a beautiful high tea, homemade pizzas baked in the wood oven or something more substantial depending on your preference.
