The Lamb Inn at Sandford, Devon
We’re excited to introduce you to a completely wonderful wedding day idea. This quirky little wedding venue is just perfect for couples who love the relaxed and friendly environment of a country pub. The 16th Century former coaching house has wonderful period features that include open fires and low beamed ceilings. There’s also a beautiful sheltered, terraced beer garden outside on three levels meaning that come rain or shine you’ll have fantastic indoor and outdoor spaces to enjoy your day. This beautifully relaxed wedding venue is set in the tranquil village of Sandford, and though you’d never know, it’s just 20 minutes from Exeter and 30 minutes from Dartmoor. The Lamb Inn is situated in the archetypical English village of Sandford scattered with period properties and Tudor cobbles, surrounded by rolling Devon hills and the beauty of Dartmoor. All this combined provides the perfect backdrop to your special day.

Wed, celebrate and stay
What’s more, unusually, this pub has a wedding license and private hire function room meaning you will have total privacy for your legal wedding ceremony at The Lamb Inn, and your reception afterwards without having to think about transport. You can even hire the whole pub for the day, including the garden, if you want to make yours a totally exclusive wedding. The venue is licensed for music and to serve drinks until mid-night so you can enjoy your whole of your special day here.
From elopements just for two, through to legal wedding ceremonies for up to 30, and evening receptions for up to 40, the rustic charm and high levels of personal service you can expect will make this just about the most relaxed wedding day experience you can imagine. Whatever the size of small wedding you are considering, if you are looking for rustic-luxe with the best food and drink in an authentic setting then The Lamb Inn is a sure winner.
Don’t be fooled by the affordable prices, this beautiful small wedding venue punches well above its weight in terms of what it delivers. It’s not included in The Good Pub Guide, AA Good Pub Guide ( 4* rating) and Alastair Sawday’s Special Places Inns & Hotels guide for nothing.
The Lamb Inn can accommodate the two in the honeymoon suite and up to 20 people in total in their adjoining accommodation. The rooms have been carefully thought through with your comfort being front of mind. The rooms feature underfloor heating, king size beds and high quality en suites. For your convenience and enjoyment every room comes with a flat screen TV, hairdryer and tea and coffee making facilities, with Wi-Fi fully available.
You can book accommodation for as many or few of your guests as you wish and stay for as long or short a stay as you choose before and after your wedding day. Be warned, you may not want to leave!
Food and drink are a big deal here at The Lamb Inn. The team will go all out to ensure you have beautiful food, in their words, “to remember for all the right reasons.” Think great gastro-pub food using the best local ingredients and served to not just look good but to taste great. Vegetarian and vegan options are available as well as a children’s menu, canapès and evening buffet options. There are beautiful wines (higher quality that most pubs) to pair with your meal, a choice of Prosecco or Champagne for your toast drinks and plentiful choices of real ales and much more from the bar in the pub.
