Here's a beautiful new wedding venue for 2023 offering bespoke, intimate weddings all year round.
The Old Rectory has been in Ann's family for generations. She has fond memories of carefree summers spent at the house. Now, for the first time, she and her family are opening this very special property for a limited number of exclusive hire, small weddings. With self-catering accommodation for up to 32 guests the venue is perfect for couples who would like to extend their ‘wedding bubble’ with their family and close friends for the weekend, mid-week, or even the whole week. The whole family can be involved as dogs (maximum two dogs) and children are also welcome.
At one time, this stunning Grade 2* Listed Georgian property was believed to be the largest rectory in England. Situated in the peaceful picturesque village of Symondsbury, there is much to explore including a genuine village pub, farm shop stocked with fresh local produce and a friendly café. Just a mile and a half down the road you'll find the vibrant market town of Bridport. Located only a mile away from the stunning Jurassic Coast means it is easy to incorporate the beach into your wedding stay.
The house encapsulates a “hygge” ambience of quiet comfort through its tasteful décor and furnishings styled by JL Design. The gentle combination of rustic leathers, textural rugs on old wooden floorboards, moody lamps, carefully chosen colours and wallpapers: all design elements that thoughtfully enhance the original features of the 300-year-old house, as well as breathing new life and pops of interest.
The bedrooms sleep 32 comfortably (or up to 41 with daybeds/trundles in 5 of the rooms). The individual wings within the house allow the bride and groom’s parties to get ready separately before the ceremony begins. The house has a fully equipped kitchen, spacious dining room seating up to 32 guests and comfortable sitting room complete with full Sky package. There is also a light and airy breakfast room that seats up to 16, a card room/library, a cosy movie snug, and a well-equipped games room with pool, table football, bar and full-sized retro arcade machine.
The gardens are well tended and provide ample space for garden games and picnics. There's a gorgeous period veranda taking in views over patchwork fields - perfect for post-ceremony drinks in the midday sun. On exploring the house further, you will find a separate enclosed courtyard designed for al fresco eating with an outdoor kitchen / BBQ / pizza oven.
Inside and out, there's plenty of space to kick-back, relax and enjoy this beautifully unspoilt corner of Dorset. The property is available for weddings on an exclusive hire basis, meaning you will have total privacy and no interference from other guests. What can we expect from an intimate wedding ceremony at The Old Rectory?
The Old Rectory package includes the coordination services of their wedding and specialist events planner and from the moment you book your wedding at the Old Rectory you will be in the hands of their trusted wedding planner, Emily Rose Weddings and Events to help organise your day.
You can expect Emily to be on hand to discuss all your event details and provide you with a list of trusted suppliers. She will meet with you 6 weeks prior to your wedding day where you will be introduced to your on-the-day coordinator. From there a detailed time schedule will be created and shared with all suppliers. Your wedding coordinator will also be on hand for up to 10 hours on your wedding day.
For your ceremony you can choose:

to marry at the local church in walking distance of the Old Rectory or
-
Marry at the Bridport Registry Office ( just 1.5 miles away) for your legal wedding ceremony on your wedding day and return to the Old Rectory for either a celebration meal or a celebrant blessing with a celebration meal to follow or
-
Marry at your local registry office and have your celebrant-led wedding ceremony at the Old Rectory followed by your celebration meal.
