Intimate Wedding Packages, Exclusively Yours

White Birch Manor is such a wonderful find. This small wedding venue offers intimate wedding packages for up to 12 decadently comfortably, or 14 at a cosy squeeze,(from 1 May 2024 this will be extended with accommodation for up to 18) including a three night stay and wedding day for you and your guests in luxurious and beautiful surroundings.  What's more, this is a real foodie's haven with Symon Gallagher, one of the owners providing delicious catering packages created just for you. He and his team can provide as much or as little of your food over the course of your stay. More about this later...

Secreted in 7 acres of lovingly kept gardens, meadows and orchards, you'll find the relaxed splendour which is White Birch Manor. It's a stunningly beautiful Grade 2* listed property surrounded by the most beautiful countryside, offering views over the River Severn and the Forest of Dean. It's accessible, yet remote location make this the perfect place for a private, intimate wedding celebration where you and your guests can stay in absolute luxury.

White Birch Manor has a romantic history and a love story of its own that sets the scene for your love story and wedding day. Legend has it that King Henry II apparently chose White Birch Manor as the meeting place for secret trysts with his mistress, the ‘Fair Rosamund’. Intriguing nods to the property's past are evident everywhere you look: ancient stone roof tiles, wattle and daub plaster walls, original flagstones, softened worn over centuries, and a plethora of original Tudor wooden beams, elegant, varnished oak panels, inglenook fireplaces, cross-beam ceilings, 16th century wall paintings in the bedrooms, decorated fireplaces. There's even a hidden door behind a bookcase...you can make your mind up as to what that was used for!

This is a place that has many stories to tell and yet, holds secrets close, a place where historical beauty meet modern day luxury and where love has always won the day.

A small intimate wedding at White Birch Manor

White Birch Manor provides personalised exclusive use facilities with an experienced catering team onsite, specialising in bespoke intimate and micro weddings. Owners Ruth and Symon, take a personal pride in making White Birch Manor perfect for smaller, more intimate wedding gatherings, making each one as individual as the couple.

It combines a romantic history with "to die for" photo opportunities everywhere you turn, and a team that will take pride in making your day just right.  Together you’ll create the perfect wedding for you and your partner, and memories that will last you a lifetime.  Here's a guide to how your wedding stay might look:

Day 1: Your Arrival
3.30pm Welcome (may be earlier by arrangement) with complimentary Cream Tea with
Prosecco laid out to welcome the bridal party. This allows time for your wedding co-ordinator to touch base and finalise any last minute changes you may have. After that the evening is yours to enjoy! Pour a drink at the bar, sink back into the sofas and relax.

Why not ask the chef to pre-prepare an evening meal ready for you to pop in the oven later? Or maybe you’d prefer a grazing board to share? Alternatively, let the catering team spoil you and they’ll serve your meal of choice. It can be as formal or as informal as you like; a sit-down meal, street food or freshly cooked pizzas either in the Manor House or out by the pool for an extra special start to your wedding celebrations.

Day 2: Your Wedding Day
9am Start getting yourselves ready whilst your personal wedding co-ordinator manages the running
order of the day. You can relax knowing everything is in safe, experienced hands. Maybe consider pastries
and a fresh fruit platter for a light start to the day whilst you have hair and make-up done?

12 am With local options for your legal ceremony at either of the two local registry offices (Gloucester or
Cinderford), at Awre Village Church or a celebrant service onsite, you can arrange
whichever option you prefer, at the time you want. There are picturesque and plentiful options for
your personalised commitment service in the house or grounds, and the venue is happy to be as flexible as the weather.

1.30pm After your ceremony your catering packages can be as personal as your day with:
• choices of canapés and arrival drinks served in the location of your choice
• bespoke and flexible menu options for your wedding breakfast with table and toast drinks served in the dining room or in the gardens
• trained waiting staff for the duration of your event from arrival drinks to the end of your wedding
breakfast.
• crockery, cutlery, glassware, napkins and table linen included

The gardens are yours (and your photographers!) to enjoy. Meander through the walkways and enjoy
secluded seating areas among vibrant cottage garden borders. Marvel over the dovecote and revel in the
tranquillity of the mill pond with the original cider press water fountain feature and duck house.

6 pm Once your wedding breakfast is cleared, your wedding day team will leave you to enjoy the rest of the evening just the way you want to. The Sonos system lets you enjoy your own playlist throughout the house or sink into the bubbles in the hot tub and enjoy the stars above and revel in the fact that you are married! The choices are endless…

Day 3: Your first day as newlyweds
Cater for yourselves or perhaps start your first day as newlyweds with a drop off continental breakfast?  Or a Full English with Bloody Mary’s if preferred for the complete cure all?! This is a day to take your time, enjoy everything the property has to offer with your guests including perhaps: garden games and a picnic in the summer house, a dip in the pool, relax in the hot tub or sunbathing on the deck. In the winter months, the cosy sofas and open fires. To complete to your wedding weekend experience you could add a Sunday lunch or maybe a post wedding family BBQ for the Sunday afternoon.

Day 4: Time to say Goodbye
We’ll want to come by and say goodbye as we’ll be sad to see you go. Checkout is at 10 am (may be later on request)

This is just an example of how things can work. The team at White Birch Manor are as flexible as you need so use this as a starting point and create your perfect day from there. To talk your options through contact Ruth enquiries@whitebirchmanor.co.uk

Your Unique Intimate Wedding Ceremony

Your legal wedding ceremony can currently only take place at specially licensed premises, a church or registry office.

Some couples choose to combine the legal aspect of their marriage with their wedding ceremony  and get  married at one of the two local registry offices at Gloucester or Cinderford  or the local church in Awre Village on the day of their wedding celebration.

Others choose a celebrant-led wedding ceremony at White Birch Manor ( we recommend Julia Hawkes, a fantastic local celebrant  You can contact Julia here: 07866 849 131 or

juliahawkescelebrant@gmail.com)

and complete the paper work either just before or after their wedding celebrations in a statutory meeting with their local registry office (in fact you can choose to use any registry office in England or Wales for the legal paperwork. Increasingly we are seeing coupes choose this route or de-coupling the legal requirements from their wedding ceremony itself as this allows for a much more heartfelt and meaningful wedding ceremony. Both church and registry office weddings are subject to legal constraints in terms of what can be said, where they can be held and what additional material e.g. music and readings can be included.

The law will eventually change to relax these constraints, but in the meantime this is a very neat solution that allows you to both marry legally and have exactly the wedding ceremony you want, where you want!
